Join the People's Walk for Our Future

We have details on the next major action in the wake of last week’s successful rally and “Week of Action.” It’s timely because the Senate is debating its budget plan and may vote on it by the end of the week. Then the Senate and House must negotiate over differences.

The “People’s Walk for Our Future” starts tomorrow, Thursday, April 14, 10 a.m., at All Saints’ Lutheran Church, 27225 Military Road S., Auburn, Wash. 98001 and will finish up Monday, April 18, in the rotunda of the state Capitol in Olympia. The starting point is near the Weyerhaeuser world headquarters – a company benefiting perhaps unfairly from tax loopholes.

The “People’s Walk” is sponsored by the We Are Washington! Coalition, one of our partners in last week’s “Week of Action” events. It’s made up of labor, community groups and students.

To sign up for one day of the walk or all five days, call the People’s Walk Hotline at (206) 713-5675. The organizers also need hosts for walkers along the way, welcoming committees, donations of food, water and rain ponchos and a number of other volunteer opportunities, such as cooking or first aid. If you can help, call (206) 713-5675.
  • ***The march is stopping at Western State Hospital (WSH) at 3pm on Friday, April 15. Please join us at the flagpole in front of the main WSH Admin Bldg. The hospital is located at 9601 Steilacoom Blvd. S.W. in Lakewood.
